My Mindful Practice

Your mind is a powerful thing. When you fill it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change. Anonymous

I have a sign having in the gym that says, Weigh loss is 70% diet, 20% exercise, and 10% mindset. Not sure if there is any science behind the quote, but I know there is truth behind it. Your mind is such a powerful thing. Mindfulness and mediation seem to have become mainstream lately. I used to think that only monks and Buddhists meditated, and that meditation was sitting in a quiet room with chants. The thought of sitting in silence sounded tortuous.

A healthy outside starts from the inside. It truly needs to be a total body transformation.

One day, I decided to give Oprah and Deepak a try for one of their 21 day mediation challenges. If was portably almost a year before I succeeded. I felt accomplished, but not quite enlightened. Then I tried mindful mediation. I had been listening to Hal Elrod interview Juliana Rae, and it just spurred me to act. The idea to be present where you are, to allow thoughts to be acknowledged and then sent on into space. No need to quiet your thoughts, just to let them be just thoughts.

As I’ve become more mindful, I’m better able to compartmentalize information. I find myself more grateful, more organizing, and less guilty about where my attention is at any given point in the day. I know several of my friends have thought I’m crazy for paying almost $5 for an app, but Bugghify has been amazing. I love that it has mediations for everything from taking a bubble bath to being in pain to going to sleep. I’ve even gotten into using essential oils to enhance my feelings of creating an even better “in the moment” type of feel.

The healthy life it's not just about losing the weight; its's about losing the lifestyle and mindset that got you there.

What do you find helps you to be more mindful and in the moment? Do you need to start a mindful practice? Create space for 5 minutes a day to work on your mindfulness practice.

If you have questions about the oils, I will answer as best as I can, though I often seek the advice of a friend. I use the doTerra brand. They have different blends for everything from feeling cheerful to gratitude to focused. I find that they really help me get through my day in a great, and present, mood. Right now I have inTune, as I try to focus with the chaos of the day happening around me.
