Reflecting on 2015

My top goal for 2015 was to get into the best heath of my life. Tough goal when I didn’t know how I was going to measure my accomplishments or the action steps I would take to meet my goal. I have been reflecting back on my goals for the year this week. I actually have my top goals hanging in the office, so I see them daily, but I mean really reflecting.

I wrote a blog in February about my commitment to myself for the year. I wish I would have recorded more of the challenges I completed, but I know some of the bigger ones I finished. I did 30 days of yoga twice, a 30 day 10K squat, 7 days of lunges, trained for and walked 39.3 2 day Avon walk, trained for and ran Hot Chocolate 15K, and I completed the 8 weeks of AIP.

It is funny to read what my one month in struggles were. The biggest was time for cardio and knowing I wanted to incorporate yoga. Last week, I took a break for dance tech and show week, but I have ran consistently the last few months at 4 AM. The yoga is happening with my daily meditations for the last few months as well. I have gone through spurts with posting sweaty pics, food pics, and even map my run stats. I have never been consistent with posting pictures, but I am happy with the progress I have made in posting.

Happiness is an inside job.

I started the year wanting to improve my physical appearance, to the best health of my life. While I may not have the body I had at 19, I do feel I accomplished my goal. Somewhere along the way though, I changed so much more about myself. I have always considered myself happy, but I am in such a different place, better, healthier place, mentally this year. I have adopted the miracle morning savers to my daily routine. The podcasts I have heard this year have had an incredible boost to my life. I re-listen to many of them so I can really implement the new ideas and habits.

One of my main drives towards eating healthy in January was a veggie at every meal. It has been a focus before, but one I got away from in 2014. I can say with certainty, 11 months later, veggies are second nature to me again. My eating has cleaned up in more ways than I could have imagined back in January. Through the AIP diet, I have eliminated most nightshade veggies, my bean consumption is very limited, and I have cut out all dairy again. The greatest benefit has been the smaller belly, or maybe it has been the increased energy. When I did the Dr Oz 3 day smoothie detox, I had similar results. The belly stayed flatter for a few months, but the energy only lasted those 3 days.

Going forward, it will be hard to top in 2016. Indeed, I have already found many of my monthly health and fitness goals to already be habits. I have already chosen my 2016 mantra to be Intentional. I think health goals will be more specific to client health. If I’m not showing others how they too can feel great, I am almost being a disservice. When you are happy and healthy, you want everyone to be happy and healthy, and I am in a position where I can help influence others in making healthier decisions.

So many people spend their health gaining wealth, and then have to spend their wealth regaining their health. A.J. Reb Materi
